Welcome! The PICU Drug Dosing Guide will help you find and view recommended dosage information, including contraindications, warnings and notes.

Getting Started

Download the Application

The application will be available for download from the iTunes or Google Play Store.

View the Tutorial

After downloading the app, you will be presented with a 5-slide tutorial. This provides a quick overview on how to search and view the dosage information and how to get in touch with an intensivist, if needed. Swipe the screen to advance to the next slide. Tap the "X" (in upper right of screen) to close the tutorial.

This tutorial can be accessed at any time by tapping the "?" in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.

User Responsibility Disclaimer

Next, you will be presented with a User Responsibility Disclaimer. After reading the disclaimer, tap "I Accept" to proceed.

Unlock the Application

To access the dosage information, you will be asked to provide your email and a 4-digit pin. This pin will be provided to you from Washington University personnel.

If you have not been given the pin, but would like access to the application, you can request the pin code by tapping the “Request Pin” button. The 4-digit pin will be sent via email from the organization, and may take up to 3 business days. Please enter your Washington University or BJC Healthcare email address for the quickest response.

Dosing Guides

Searching the Dosing Guides

After you have unlocked the application, you can view the Dosing Guides Category listing. Initially, you will see a list of all drug categories. There are several ways to search for a drug dosing sheet.

All Categories

To search for a drug dosing sheet, select the drug category, then select a drug from within the category.

To return to the main list, use the back arrow.

Frequently Used

This search option allows you to quickly access your most frequently-used drug dosages from within their associated category.

Search Field

Use the search field to look for a specific drug. As you begin typing the drug, a list of possible matches will present. In this example, Morphine is listed in two different categories. Select the appropriate dosage sheet.

Viewing Dosage Sheets

To view a dosage sheet, tap on the desired drug name. A dosage sheet may include any of the following information:

This demonstrates where the above items will be displayed on a dosage sheet.

For this first example, Adenosine was selected from the category of Antiarrhythmics.

The drug’s category is displayed at the top, then the drug name. Any contraindications, warnings and dosage information for Adenosine can be viewed. Tapping the "X" will close the dosage sheet and return you to the search screen from within the previously selected category.

For this next example, Morphine was selected from the Category of Sedation/Pain Protocol (Intubated). A description of the drug displays, followed by the dosage information, notes and a link to the SBS Scores sheet.

To view the SBS Scores sheet from within a dosage sheet, tap on the blue "SBS Scores" link. Tapping the "X" will close this sheet and return you to the drug’s category search screen.

For feedback and questions regarding a specific dosing guide, select the "? Ask Question | Send Feedback" button at the bottom of the screen.

Transfers & Consultations

To access Transfer & Consultations, tap on the drawer menu in the upper left-hand corner and select Transfers and Consultations.

Children’s Direct

For patient transfers or direct consultations with an intensivist at St. Louis Children’s hospital, tap on "Call Now" to contact the Children’s Direct – Physician Access Line.

Poison Control

For quick access to the Poison Help Line, tap on "Call Now" to contact the Poison Control Center.

User Responsibility

To access the User Responsibility statement, tap on the drawer menu in the upper left-hand corner and select "User Responsibility." This will display the User Responsibility Disclaimer you initially accepted when downloading the app.

Send Feedback

To access the Send Feedback feature, tap on the drawer menu in the upper left-hand corner and select Send Feedback.
